Janie Mae Johnson, 71, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away peacefully Aug. 14, 2021, at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville, Ark. Janie was born Sept. 18, 1949, in Stillwater, Okla., to Donald and Gertrude Wilson Hobson.

A graduate of Huntsville High School, she later retired after 41 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., AT&T, and was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship in Fayetteville, Ark.

Janie enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and researching family genealogy. She was an avid reader and Scrabble player, but more than anything she loved doting on and spoiling those she loved. Her humble spirit meant she easily found joy in the small things. She was generous and kind to all she met.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Merl Hobson. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary D. "Jack" Johnson, daughters Jamie Thompson (Rocky) of Springdale, Ark. and Jaclyn Johnson (Jordan) of Fayetteville, Ark., sister Donna Hobson of Springdale, Ark., and three beloved grandchildren: Stone, Ridglee, and Eloise Jane Kay Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wed., Aug. 18, 2021, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 No. 4th St., Rogers, Ark., and a graveside service will be at 10 am Thurs., Aug. 19, 2021, at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Garfield, Ark.
