He was a saw mill and logging owner and operator.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Claud and Gertrude Karr Yates and two sisters: Christine Vaught and Phyllis Yates.

He is survived by his wife: Leta Marie Daugherty Yates of Clarksville, Arkansas; three sons: Ricky Yates and wife, Lisa, of Miami, Oklahoma, Kenny Yates and wife, Sheryl, of Ozark, Arkansas, and Ronnie Yates and wife, Wendy, of Ozone, Arkansas; a brother: Duane Yates and wife, Glenda, of Clarksville, Arkansas; two sisters: Geraldine Ballard of Dallas, Texas and Carol B. Smith of Magazine, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas, with Reverend Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will follow in Yale Cemetery in Yale, Arkansas.
