Donald R. Bernier, 69, of Westport died at home June 2, 2007. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Augustus) Bernier.

Mr. Bernier was born in Fall River, son of the late Antoine Bernier, Jr. and Alma (LaFlamme) Bernier, and resided in Westport for the past 37 years. He was a U.S Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.

He was the owner/operator of D.R. Bernier General Contractor of Westport. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Newport Local #176, the Democratic Town Committee of Westport, Westport Housing Authority, Ducks Unlimited, Coast Guard Auxiliary #618 of Westport, American Legion Post #145 of Westport, Past President of the Westport Lions Club; Past Chairman of the Westport Conservation Commission, and various other town committees.
