Edward Alfred Browning was the son of Samuel and Margaret (Markee) Browning.

He married Malissa Scott, the daughter of James Uriah Scott and Adaline Vails, around the year 1861. She died in 1864.

Edward then married Mary Elizabeth Gibbons around the year 1866. Mary was the daughter of Alfred Pierce Gibbons and Melvina Kimmer.
