Arthur J. Ambrose, 69, a longtime resident of Framingham passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 14, 2021, surrounded by his family. Artie was born in Seattle, WA, the son of the late Wayne and Jane (Hyde) Ambrose. He was the beloved husband of Joanne M. (Purpura) Ambrose. Artie started his education in the state of Washington and after moving to Framingham, he graduated from St. Stephens Elementary, and was a 1970 graduate of Marian High School where he was a standout student-athlete and also where he met Joanne, his wife of 47 years. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Columbia University. Arthur then began his career at Raytheon and moved on to Horizon House Publications where he retired in 2018, as the Director of Finance. Artie loved sports and coached his children throughout the years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren. He and Joanne enjoyed summers in York, ME with their family. In addition to his wife Joanne, he leaves his devoted children, Paul A. Ambrose (Julianne) of Natick, Christy M. Field of Loudonville, NY, and Brian A. Ambrose (Ann-Marie) of Medway; his nine grandchildren, Sophia, Nicholas, Natalie, Nora, Jacob, Julia, Lyla, Claire, and Joseph; his mother-in-law, Tillie Purpura; his brother Wayne Ambrose, Jr., his sisters-in-law, Theresa Gately, and Marie Ciampaglia (John); and his niece and nephews. Artie was predeceased by his sister, Maryann Chiacchia and his father-in-law, Sal Purpura. Family and friends will honor and remember Artie's life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Wednesday, August 18, from 4 | 8 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at St. George Church, 74 School St., Saxonville at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
