Carolina Margaret Marie, daughter of Claus Henry Grimm and Anna Schwieso, was born September 5, 1884 in Crawford county and died December 26, 1956 in St. Joseph's hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 21 days.
She married William Grage March 14, 1906. To this union nine children were born.
She was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran church in Manilla, by Rev. F.C. Israel and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Her entire life was spent in this community. Since September 1956 she made her home with her daughter in Mitchell, South Dakota, having been in poor health for several years. November 1955 she underwent serious surgery at St. Anthony's hospital at Carroll from which she never completely recovered. While with her daughter she entered the Mitchell hospital for observation and treatment.
She is survived by four sons, Gilbert of jasper, Minn., Wilmer of Oxford Junction, Merlin of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Victor of Jasper, Minn.; four daughters: Mrs Edna (Henry) Waterbury of Manilla, Mrs Luella (Robert) Ray of Mission Hill, South Dakota, Mrs Hazel (Albert) Dowiling of Mitchell, South Dakota and Mrs Helen (Beryl) Kettle of Greenwood, Nebraska; a brother Henry Grimm of Manning; four sisters Emma Auen of Carroll; Bertha Genzen and Ida Wiese, both of Manning and Annie Ewoldt of Manilla, 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her husband and a son, Glenn, preceded her in death.
Services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church in Manilla December 29, with the Rev. L.W. Nutzmann officiating.
Pallbearers were Robert Waterbury, Merle Waterbury, William Waterbury, Alan Ray, Stanley Ray and Loren Grage.
Burial was in the Nishnabotna cemetery.
