Orval Phillip Goertz, 86, Winfield, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 10, 2004, at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Born July 9, 1917, in Hydro, Okla., he was the son of Henry D. and Anna (Enns) Goertz. He worked at Scheneman Meats in Winfield, later known as Prairieland Processing until retirement in 1983, following 24 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ellen (Aldrich) Goertz of the home; son, Vernon Goertz of Winfield; daughter, Cora Frazee of Wichita; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hilda; and his brothers, Ted, Clarence and Art.
Memorials have been established for the Grace United Methodist Church and the Kansas Veterans Home. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.
