Glenna Ann Thompson Hinson, 89, of New London, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Glenna was born September 8, 1931 in North Carolina to the late Henry Nathan Thompson and the late Annie Thompson.

She was also preceded in death by husband in 2009, Joseph Brantley Hinson, son, Joseph Lynn Hinson, and sisters, Kathleen Hatley and Mildred Furr.

Survivors include son, Michael (Debbie) Hinson of New London, NC, daughter-in-law, Cindy Hinson, sister, Carolyn Lowder of New London, NC, grandchildren, P. J. Ingram, Emily Mullinix, Bryan (Maggie) Hinson, Stacy (Jonathan) Dunn, and great-grandchildren, Kenya Ingram, Grayson Mullinix, Carlee Hinson, Izzy Mullinix, Journi Dunn, and Allee Hinson.

Glenna will be remembered as a beautiful soul and beautiful person who greatly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved animals, especially her cat, "Pumpkin".

Glenna graduated from New London High School where she was on the basketball team, she then worked for the Clerk of Court office as a Deputy Clerk until she retired.

She was member of Stanly County Republican Women and a dedicated member of Centralina Area Agency on Aging for many years where she found purpose advocating for those who couldn't advocate for themselves.

Glenna was a United Methodist and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she attended the Wesleyan class and was also a member of United Methodist Women.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hinson will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Albemarle, NC.

Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church or Hospice of Stanly County & the Uwharrie.
