Miss Margaret D Cummins, longtime teacher in Maplewood, died on Nov 1 2007,All Saints' Day, at Sunnyside Manor, Manasquan NJ, where she had been a resident since 2001. Relatives and friends will gather at Orender Funeral Home, 2643 Old Bridge Rd Manasquan on Saturday at 8 am and proceed to St Denis Church Manasquan for the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am. Interment is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange.[section A block 166]
Arrangements are by the McDonough Funeral Home, Manasquan. Visitation is on Friday at 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Miss Cummins was born in East Orange and lived there for over 50 years. She moved to Orange with her sister, Anna Atno, and staying there for the next 30 years. She was a teacher at the Clifton School in Maplewood before retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service. Miss Cummins was a graduate of St Vincents Academy with the Class of 1928, attended Newark Normal School and received her B.S. in Education from Kean University. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Essex County Retired Teachers Association and The a Kempis of New Jersey. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Denis Restoration Fund, 90 Union Ave Manasquan NJ 08736.
