George C. Venter, 1891-1961
George C. Venter, 70, of 925 Vermont St., Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on Mon., July 17, 1961, from complications related to advanced age. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wed., July 19, at the Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Melius Ballesen, associate pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

Mr. Venter was born on Jan. 26, 1891, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, to Christian and Sophia (Koepke) Venter. He was a lifelong resident of Black Hawk County. On Dec. 2, 1912, he married Mamie Davison at Hazel, S.D. He was employed by the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Co. for 25 years and retired in 1953. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lyle and Floyd, both of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Oleson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three brothers, Carl, Paul and Henry, all of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers.
