Catherine was born December 12, 1914 to Solon and Edith Chinn in McHenry, KY. She married Joe Clyde Keys in 1933 and spent 63 years in a wonderful marriage. Words to describe her are sweet, kind, caring, loving and sharing. After 106 years her prayers were answered and she left this world peacefully August 12th.
Catherine was a fabulous cook, explaining after a compliment on a meal that all she knew was "plane ole country cooking." Probably the bacon grease she used explains her longevity. She played an active role in Shively Homemakers, was a lifetime PTA member, a long time member of Shively Baptist Church. She was always there to open the doors and clean up the kitchen for church activities. Her passion was sewing. She did an incredible job of designing and sewing from the time she was a young girl throughout her adult life.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Lois Brown, brothers, Ralph, Arthur and Hugh Chinn. She is survived by sons Gene (Margery) and Jerry Keys (Marilyn); a daughter Susan Keys Grant (Barney Sutton); grandchildren Andrew (Beth) Keys, Dale (Amy), Barbara Keys Bender (Michael); great grandchildren Grace Carlisle (Taylor), Mitchell, Hope, Hannah, Haley and Caleb.
A special thanks to the care givers at Parr's at the Willows of Springhurst, especially Brittany and Matt who cared and loved her for eleven years.
Visitation will be at 11:00 August 21st with a memorial service following at noon at St. Matthews United Methodist Church 319 Browns Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
