She was the daughter of Benjamin Waters Gibson & Launa Bass Gibson. She was preceeded in death by her son Miles Thomas Owens in 2001. She is survived by four children: Steve J., James L., Gary W., and Janet; three brothers Joe, jimmy and Paul Gibson; two sisters: Biley Katheryn and Patsy.
