Emerson "Ernie" Blake, 74, of Anderson, died at his residence on Nov. 30, 2017, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease to now reside with our Lord in heaven.
He was born Aug. 15, 1943, in Carlisle, Kentucky, the son of Emmett and Frances (Wagoner) Blake, residing in the Anderson/Alexandria area most of his life.
He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.
He worked production at Guide Lamp for 32 years before retiring in 1999.
Ernie was a member of Madison Park Church of God and enjoyed NASCAR, snowmobiles, sled racing, four-wheeling, motorcycles, cars, fishing and loved dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Nancy (Murdock) Blake; four stepchildren, Michele (Kyle) Hodson of Arcadia, Curtis (Jodie) Hart of Barrington, Illinois, Jerri Brown (fiancé, Ray Ernsberger) of LaGrange and Daphne Schmelz of Alachua, Florida; sister, Shirley Martin; brother, Charlie (Jeanne) Blake; sister-in-law, Mary Blake, all of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara "Jeanne" Knoblock; and brother-in-law, Gale Knoblock; brother, Richard "Dick" Blake; brother-in-law, Dallas Martin; and his beloved dog, Shadow.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Tom Malbone officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent Hospice, Parkinson's Foundation or Madison County Humane Society.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Charles Purdy and St. Vincent Hospice staff for their loving care of Ernie.
