Rev. Paul D. Shear, 86 of Spencer went home to be with his Lord Saturday August 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 3, 1935 in Greene County to the late Oscar and Mary (Payne) Shear. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving two years in Germany.
He married Marjorie Sue Payne on April 16, 1960 in Georgia; she preceded him in death in 2013.
He was an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene and pastor for various Nazarene churches and best known for pastoring the Freedom Church of the Nazarene for 18 years and Old Dutch Community Church for 8 years. He retired from Otis Elevator in 1998 after over 32 years of service. He was a greeter at the Spencer Walmart for 20 years where he had an ongoing prayer list with the customers and was a friendly face to all he greeted. He said, Walmart was the biggest church I ever Pastored. He was a recipient of the Heart of the Community Award in 2019 given by the Owen County Chamber of Commerce. He was a 27 year member of the Spencer Nazarene Church.
Surviving Paul are; a son, Stuart A (Marsha Turner – Shear) ; a daughter, Paula S. (Steven) Jackson; two grandchildren, Rose (Fred) Pierce and Landon Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, and two brothers, Lloyd and Merle Shear.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00AM until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
