Obituary
Virginia Neely, formerly of Corydon, passed away on August 1, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Virginia always had a smile and cherished life.
Virginia was born at the family home at the Pinedale farm. Her family later moved off of the farm and made their home in Allerton. She went to Allerton High School and graduated in 1951. After graduation, she married Wendell "Gene" Beavers and they moved to Webster City. She also lived a short time in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving back to Allerton. She was employed by the Times Republican Newspaper in Corydon. She and Gene were proud parents of three boys: Sammie, Randy and Billy. Later she and Gene were divorced and in July of 1979 Virginia married Bill Neely. Virginia and Bill enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Texas. Virginia also enjoyed dancing, ceramics, and gardening. She spent many hours researching her family history and was involved with the Allerton Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Cora Houston, husband Bill Neely, brothers: Robert Houston (Jean), William Houston, and Richard Houston, sisters: Florence Barkhurst (Earl) and Eleanor Ford (Curt), two infant siblings and her son Randy Beavers.
She is survived by sons: Sammie Beavers (Judy), and Billy Beavers (Cheryl), sister-in-law Betty Houston, nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren and other extended family members.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Diane Olson Schroeder officiating. Interment was held at the Corydon Cemetery.
