Grant Cook Tingey, 90, of Lake Shore, Utah, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2021. He was born September 23, 1930, in Woodruff, Utah, son of Thomas Josiah (Jody) and Rowena Cook Tingey. He married the love of his life, Lois Joyce Carter, on February 14, 1951, in Salt Lake City Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Grant graduated from Brigham Young University, with a degree in Animal Science, in 1952. He played catcher with the BYU baseball team. Grant was a founding member of the BYU Intercollegiate Rodeo Team.

After graduation, he took his bride and newborn child to work for the Miller Family Ranch in Big Piney, Wyoming. Grant loved the ranching lifestyle, but his loving young wife, not so much.

Grant moved his family to Bountiful, Utah, where he worked for the Salt Lake Stock Yards. Grant was then employed as a full-time cattle buyer for the Cudahy Packing Plant, where he learned the skill of buying cattle.

In the fall of 1963, Grant purchased an interest in the Spanish Fork Livestock Auction. Grant owned and operated the sale barn for 43 years, where he demonstrated his pride and love for the livestock industry.

Grant was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a bishopric of a BYU Young Adult Ward.

Survived by his daughter, Sue Winterton (Seth) of Woodland, Utah; and son, Ty (Kelly) Tingey of Salem, Utah; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Grant was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lois; daughter, Karen; parents; and his siblings: Willard Tingey (Marr), Lorin Tingey, Mavis Duke (Gordon), Genett Brueckner (Allen), and Roka Raymond (Wendell).

Funeral services and visitation, for family and friends of Grant, will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Lake Shore Church, 5916 South 3200 West, Lake Shore, Utah 84660. Viewing from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Funeral will begin at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow services and will be at the Benjamin, Utah Cemetery.
