Shirley Ann Kronschnabel was born on September 28, 1936 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Julia Bryant. She grew up in Jenkins, Minnesota; the youngest of eleven children.

Shirley married her loving husband, Leo Kronschnabel on October 9, 1954. They were blessed with five children. Shirley was a proud grandmother to her nine grandchildren and was even more blessed with nine great grandchildren. She loved her grand and great grandchildren and no one ever left Grandma's house hungry because she cooked like she was feeding an army.
