Henry R. Martinek, 97, Rossville, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born February 14, 1905, near Rossville, the son of Vincent and Agnes Simecka Martinek.
He lived all his life in the Rossville community. He attended Victor 101 School. He had farmed and later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and the dehydrator plant in Rossville. He worked at Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, from 1952 until he retired in 1971. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Delia, and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville.
On June 26, 1929, he married Regina Marie Ryan in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. She died July 3, 1989. A daughter, Agnes White, died January 8, 1998. A son Henry R. Martinek, Jr. died in 1941. A granddaughter, Kathy Brinkman, died October 21, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Schumaker, St. Marys, and Jo Copeland, Rossville; a son, Vincent Martinek, Topeka; a sister, Helen Macha, Rossville; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
