Obituary:

Ida Lillian Greer was born on Valentine's Day, 1929, to parents Lorena and Dave Greer, one of 11 children, in Millican, Texas, and they grew up in Peach Creek. After graduating high school, she married Jesse Russell and they relocated to Austin to begin their life together. Ida worked as a nurse's aide at Austin State Hospital, and her love for people and her patients was a special kind of healing whenever they saw her smile.

Ida and Jesse had two children, daughter, Linda, and son, Wayne. Austin remained the family home base when the couple divorced. Ida raised her children as she had grown up, showing faith in and love of God, and kindness to people who needed her help.
She survived cancer early in her life and came back strong. Ida especially loved being outside and doing anything in the garden. It was always fun to go on shopping adventures with Linda, discovering treasures at thrift stores. Another part of her happy home life were seven dogs (Cupcake, Oreo, Tinker Bell, Baby, Cinnamon, Gizmo, and Peanut). Eleven chickens also received attention and smiles.

Ida died July 31 at the age of 92, after a long, happy life, lovingly cared for by her daughter, Linda, with whom she lived. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Aileen Lovell (Houston); Bertha Hall (Bryan); Lady Reiner (Arkansas); Barbara Jean Porman (Ohio); Bud Greer (Millican); Dean Greer (Bryan), and Mildred "Sunshine" Wade (Bryan).

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lollis (Austin), son Wayne (Carmella) Russell (Austin); brother Kenneth Greer, Glen Greer, and Sidney Greer (Nelda), all of Bryan; grandchildren: Tracy Auldridge (Charles) and great-grand-daughter Lauren Auldridge of Leander; Amanda Ferreo (Julio) and great-grand-children Philip, Natalie and Emma Ferreo, of Liberty Hill.

A graveside service is set for 10:00 am, Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Peach Creek Cemetery in College Station. Express condolences at CallawayJones.com.
