Ronald Gene Burton, 78, passed away at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital Saturday, July 31, 2021 following a hemorrhagic stroke.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, at Marysville Christian Fellowship in Marysville. The service will be shown on Kinsley Mortuary's Facebook Page.

Burial will be in the Summerfield Cemetery.

Ron was born August 27, 1942 on his family farm 6 miles south of Summerfield, KS. He was welcomed to the family by his older brother and his parents Galen and Alta (Morton) Burton. He was a graduate of the Summerfield High School, class of 1960, and the Central Tech Institute in Kansas City, MO, class of 1962. He worked for Bendix Corporation in Kansas City for a few years before returning home to Summerfield to farm. He was a 5th generation farmer and later raised his own family on the farm. Ron married on August 24, 1963 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, KS. They had 4 children and grandchildren.

Ron accomplished a lot during his life, but aside from his family his biggest loves were Jesus, farming and softball. He was a member of Marysville Christian Fellowship and attended Thursday Men's prayer breakfast at Axtell. Ron loved the land, took great care of his fields and livestock and was very proud to live on the family farm.

Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He and wife spent the winters in Harlingen, TX, for the last 20 years where they met wonderful friends and participated in community activities. While in Harlingen, Ron spent time on woodworking activities that he would give as Christmas gifts. Ron and wife helped at the food pantry weekly while in Texas and also volunteered and donated to the local food panty in Marshall County. He was also active in the community at home. Ron was on the Soil Conservation District Board, Federal Land Bank Board, Beattie COOP Board, Township (Richland) Board, Rural Fire Board and Watershed Board.

Ron is survived by his wife; children ; grandchildren; and great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents Galen and Alta; brother James and wife Nancy.
