He was the son of Clarence Christopher and Annie Irene (Ogle) Ortner and married Lillian Cecil Stewmon - 9 Apr 1944 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. His obituary follows:

Ralph Alexander Ortner of Route 6, Fayetteville, died Saturday morning at Lincoln County Hospital following a brief illness. He was 44 years old.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. H. H. Carman and the Rev. Boyd LeCroy officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Ortner was the son of the late Clarence Christopher and Irene Ogle Ortner. He was a member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He had been employed by the Blue Ridge Manufacturing Company.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Cecil Stewman Ortner; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Bobo of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Douglas Ownby and Mrs. Edward McNutt, both of Lewisburg; a half-brother, James Jobe of Shelbyville; and a step-brother, Edward Abbott of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
