ELEANOR LOUISE DOEHLA, 83, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home. Born May 7, 1924, in Fort Wayne, she was the youngest daughter of the late Stella B. (Offenlock) and William C. Gatton. "She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved the Lord, her family and friends and enjoyed sponsoring many family reunions". She retired in 1980 as a teachers aid for disabled children at East Allen County Schools. She had worked at G.C. Murphy's as a teenager and later worked at Peter Eckrich & Sons. She was a graduate of North Side High School, in 1943. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church; lifetime member of the Frolich Frauen Home Ec Club which she helped form in 1961 after she became disabled; and in a Cottage Bible Study with lifelong friends. Surviving are her daughter, Deborah D. Kinney of Fort Wayne; son, David D. Doehla of Vevay, Ind., grandchildren, Julianne, Katrina, Adam, Larissa, Christopher, Scott, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Charles, Samuel, Joseph, Brianna, Brett, Alexander, and Olivia; and 27 nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel D. Doehla who she married in 1943; daughter, Rebecca C. Doehla; three brothers; and four sisters. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Preferred memorials Ascension Lutheran Church.
