A veteran of 66 years in the fire sprinkler industry, he was the Manager of Fabrication Services with Daniel Construction Company before eventually founding Harvey and Associates, Inc. in 1988. He served on code committees, such as the NFPA, helping to write fire codes that will be used for generations to come. He was a contributing author of articles for trade magazines. As a result of these articles, he received calls from all over the world seeking his vast knowledge. He was a teacher and mentor to countless individuals in the fire protection industry, and he always cared deeply for his associates and employees.
He had many passions including supporting the Clemson Tigers through IPTAY for over forty years and performing the Upright Bass Fiddle in a Bluegrass band, as well as attending over hundreds of Bluegrass festivals. In the past, Bill and Laurel organized bluegrass bands to perform for the City of Fountain Inn Parks and Recreation. Automobile racing was also dear to his heart.
Mr. Harvey cherished his family and extended family very much. They will always remember his gentle spirit and unmatched love for his wife.
Entombment will be private for the family in the Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park Mausoleum.
