Doris A. (Hatridge) Murdock, 95, of Denton, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Denton.

Born in Valley View, Texas, on September 7, 1925, Doris was the daughter of Emory Edgar and Ethel (Ashley) Hatridge. Doris was a graduate of Demonstration High. She was an athlete, playing in the position of hind catcher for the baseball team, and she played volleyball. Doris accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 11.

On March 31, 1945, she married Charlie Eugene Murdock in Denton, Texas, where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Brenda and Tammy. Doris worked at Montgomery Wards, the Collegiate Shop; she became a dental assistant for two dentists and was a homemaker. She was a member of Southmont Baptist Church. She lived her faith daily and was an exemplary example of a Christian woman.

As Doris's health began to decline, she went to live at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Her spirit was as lively as ever. She served on the church committee and witnessed to other residents. Residents would come to her and ask her to pray with them. She was always one of the loudest residents singing during worship services. She loved to sing hymns.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie, passed away on June 6, 1984; her daughter, Brenda Murdock McDaniel, passed away on December 3, 2011; her siblings, George Hatridge, Kathleene Dickens, James Hatridge, and Kenneth Hatridge.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Tammy Lowrie and husband Forrester of Denton; her sweet "Angel" (as she called him), grandson, Matthew Lowrie of Denton; sister Marie Mason of Denton; sister-in-law, Glenda Hatridge of Denton; and son-in-law, Danny McDaniel of Denton. She is also survived by a nephew, Kenny Mason, and wife D'Ann of Denton; great-nieces Ashley Mason of Denton and Nicole Forcey of Denton; great-nephew Ryan Mason and wife Meghan and their children, great-great-nephew, Kody Mason and great-great-niece Jayde Mason of West Virginia.
