Surrounded by her loving family Emma Jean Chandler passed from this life Saturday July 24, 2021 at her residence. She was 85 years of age.
Jean was born September 10, 1935 in Glenwood, KY, a daughter of the late Fred and Opal Ratcliff Howell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Donald R. Chandler. Her son Donald Chandler II, a brother Donald Ray Howell and a sister Ruth Ann Jones also preceded her in death.
Jean was employed by Kings Daughters Medical Center, retiring in 2003 after 35 years of service in Dietary Aid. She loved cooking and walking with her friends Getty and Caroline. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister Ruth Ann and her friend Dale. She attended the United Methodist Church in Ashland, KY.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lockwood, her husband Raymond Jr. of Denton, KY. Five grandchildren that she treasured; Wendy Sloan Preston, her husband Joe of Catlettsburg, KY; Keith Lockwood, his wife Tracy of Glen Hayes, WV; Aaron Chandler of Ashland, KY; Ali Smith, her husband Reid of Ashland, KY and Angie Wirzfeld, her husband Brent of Ironton, OH. Ten great grandchildren that she adored ; Cecily Smith, Clarity Smith, Charlie Chandler, Cinci Wirzfeld, Eloise Wirzfeld, Blaise Wirzfeld, Piper Wirzfeld, Boston Wirzfeld, Timothy Sloan and Emily Davis and one precious great great grandchild Emilia Davis. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Mary Chandler of Ashland, KY.
A private service will be held at the Rose Hill Mausoleum, where she will be entombed with her husband. Chaplain Betsy Cole will officiate the services. Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, KY is in charge of arrangements.
