Larry Dean Atkinson, 74, of Monticello, IN, passed away at 6:00 AM on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on March 12, 1947 in Cambridge, NE to the late Cecil and June (Warren) Atkinson.

Larry was a 1966 graduate of Remington High School. He was a United States Army veteran, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle M-14 Expert Medal. Larry retired from Amoco Oil in Whiting, IN and was also a union carpenter. Larry was a member of the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church. He was a member of the Rotary Air Force Association, NRA and Iroquois Archery club in Rensselaer. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Larry enjoyed archery, hunting and gyrocopters.

He is survived by four children; three siblings; 11 grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Larry was also preceded in death by five siblings - Darlene Bulington, Shirley Bramble, Charlie Atkinson, Ronnie Ray Atkinson and infant brother Russell.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021 and again on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service celebrating Larry's life at 11:00 AM at Faith Covenant Fellowship Church in Monticello with Rev. Darl Clemons officiating. Burial will follow at the Remington I.O.O.F Cemetery with full military rites.
