JOHN E ABRAMS, Sr.
John Earl (Mink) Abrams Sr., 76, widower of Frances Tucker Abrams, died June 21, 2003 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec 11, 1926, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Aaron and Queenie Keith Abrams. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and later served in the United States Navy. He was employed by AM Tuck Construction Co., building bridges until his retirement.
Survivors include three sons, John Earl Abrams Jr., James Abrams and Thomas Abram; two daughters, Frances A. McCall and Marie A Singleton; one adopted daughter, Verlene Blanding, all of Sumter; one brother, JP Abrams, three stepbrothers; Leroy Richardson, Edward Richardson, and Marion Martin; one sister Nancy Smalls, one stepsister, Dorothy Richardson, 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Jenkins, Martha Porcher, Emma Turner and Verlene Blanding, and one brother, Ernest Lindburg Abrams.
The remains will be placed in the church at 2 pm today. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm today from the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church (USA), 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell with the Rev. Dr Lutrelle D. Rainey Sr., pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Ernest Jackson and Elder Clarence McCall.
Burial will be in Ebenezer Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery, Dalzell.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family.
Floral bearers will be nieces and friends of the family.
The funeral procession will leave at 2:30 pm from the home of his daughter, Frances A McCall, 4808 Cotton Acres Road, Sumter.
