William Hopkins was born on 1 June 1725, in New York, as the son of Hopkins. He married Sarah Langstaff from 1748 to 1749, in New Jersey, British Colonial America. They were the parents of 2 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Morris County, New Jersey in 1750 and Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey for about 28 years. He registered for military service in 1776. His parents are unknown/unproven at this time. I have attached him, along with possible siblings, to Unknown Hopkins. Please do not add other parents without a record to back up your claim. Some how people have gotten that story wrong. I believe that they were related but not father and son. He married Sarah Langstaff bef 1750 in NJ. She was a daughter of John Langstaff and Mary Dove and was born in Piscataway, Middlesex, NJ. Children: 1. William Hopkins Jr 1750–Deceased 2. John Hopkins 1753–1833 3. Sarah Hopkins 1757 He purchased land in Morris, NJ in 1750. His name is on the Freeholders list on 1752 in Roxbury, Morris, NJ His wife Sarah died sometime before 26 August 1760 in Roxbury, Morris, NJ. Their sons William and John where mentioned in her father's Will on that date. He married Eunice Howell abt 1761. She was a daughter of Jonah Howell and Elizabeth Foster and born abt 1732 Southampton, Suffolk, NY. Children: 1. Jedediah Hopkins 2. David Hopkins 3. Dr Stephen Hopkins 1766–1841 4. Josiah Hopkins 1768–Deceased 5. Samuel Hopkins 1770–Deceased 6. Jonah Hopkins 1773–Deceased 7. Benjamin Hopkins 1774–1824~~~~~~
