Update: Herman's mother Tempie was married to Willie Meeks Sr, on 29 June 1892 in Cato, Faulkner, Arkansas, United States. They had three children together, Joseph Andrew Meeks, William Albert Meeks, Jr and Nathan Columbus Meeks. Tempie was Willie Meeks second wife. Willie was born in Alabama and died young at the age of 37y, 4m, 21d, on August 1, 1900, in Shelby, Tennessee, after being in Shelby County for only 6 days. He died of Pernicious Fever, which back in the year 1900 was the name used for Yellow Fever and Pernicious Malaria Fever. Under the place of burial it states County Cemetery and his place of death was at St. Joseph Hospital, 8th Ward, in the City of Memphis, Tennessee.
