Macon, Georgia - Mary Nell Bridges Layfield, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery (North Gate) with Pastor Craig Waldon officiating.

Mary was born in Twiggs County to the late William Green Bridges and Mattie Sanders Bridges.

She was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church, a member of NARFE Chapter 2142, and was a retired clerk from Robins Air Force Base.

Mary was a quiet woman who fiercely loved her family. She selflessly devoted many years of her life to the care of her two sisters.

Those left to cherish memories made with Aunt Mary are her devoted nephew, Spencer N. Wimberly of Macon; niece-in-law, Brenda J. Wimberly of Macon; great-nephew, Brad Wimberly (Rachel); great-nieces; Anna Claire Dando (Jon); Whitney Bledsoe (Blake); great-great-nieces and nephews; Emma Wimberly; Olivia Wimberly; Murphy Dando; Rachel Dando; Charlie Dando; Cal Dando; Bryan Bledsoe; Rhodes Bledsoe; Shepard Bledsoe; Lawson Bledsoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva Carroll Layfield; step-son, Alva F. Layfield; sisters; Doris B. Wimberly and Ida Mae B. Hollis; faithful nephew, Richard Wimberly.

Aunt Mary's family wishes to thank Cheydana White, Katosha Stokes with Pine Pointe Hospice, and Angels of Grace Home Care for their care, love, and compassion.
