Russell E. Arnold, 83, of Urbana died at 3 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 8, 2006) at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. Mr. Arnold was born March 1, 1922, in Champaign, a son of Loy E. and Flossie Baylor Arnold. He married Betty Pursel on April 18, 1954, in Champaign. She survives. Survivors also include a son, Rick Arnold of Marietta, Ga.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Arnold graduated from Urbana High School in 1940, and attended the University of Illinois. He and his father owned and operated Arnolds Urbana Furniture for more than 40 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of Urbana Elks Lodge, where he was a past grand exhalted ruler. He was a member of Urbana Lodge 157 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Danville and Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Memorials may be made to Provena Covenant Hospice Care Program, 1400 W. Park St., Urbana, IL 61801. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Mausoleum, 611 E. Pennsylvania Ave., C. Brent Ellis will officiate. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the mausoleum, with Masonic services at 9:45 a.m. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, U, is handling arrangements.
