Ruetz, Albert (Al) John;
Al passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2010, surrounded by the ever present and endearing love of his family. He was born and raised on the family homestead in Carrick Twsp., seventy five years ago. Al's memory is cherished by his best friend, constant companion and beloved wife Betty (nee: Cassidy) Ruetz. Al's unconditional love will be treasured by his children, John (Helen) of Waterloo, Allan of Hamilton, and Rhonda of Waterloo. Special memories of Grandpa will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Thomas, Eric, Heidi, Nicholas, Bennett, Tallis, and Cayden. Al will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Alvin (Veronica) Ruetz of Walkerton, Anne Donnelly of Burlington, Marguerite (John) Duffy of Hamilton, Francis (Helene) Ruetz of Sauble Beach, Mary Nuernberger of Kitchener and sister-in-law Shirley Ruetz of Hanover. Also missed by his brother-in-law Doug (Pat) Cassidy, sisters-in-law Genevieve Cassidy and Linda Cassidy. Predeceased by his parents, John and Clara (Hundt) Ruetz, brother William, sister-in-law Patricia Ruetz and brothers-in-law Ed Donnelly, and Richard Nuernberger. Al enjoyed a forty year career at Raytheon Canada, and served as the Controller and member of the Board of Directors and he retired in 1998. Al was one of the founding members of St. Agnes RC Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus.
The Ruetz family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:45p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 9:20 a.m. then transfer will be made to St. Agnes RC Church (75 Bluevale St. N. Waterloo) for Albert's Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
