edit: AVILLA - Thomas E. Barbato, 83, avilla, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Skaggs Hospital, Branson, after a short illness.
Mr. Barbato was born Aug. 16, 1911, at Wyandotte, Oklahoma. He lived in the Avilla area most of his life. He owned and operated the Avilla Garage. He was a member of Avilla United Methodist Church and Odd Fellows Lodge of Avilla IOOF.
He married Velma Mae taylor on May 6, 1934. She died in August 1988.
Survivorsinclude two sons Larry and Danny Barbato, a brother Clarence Fullerton, six sisters, Dorothy Rookstool, Doris Ware, Jeanie Skyles, Irma Lee McGlothis, Gertrude Johns, and Othelia Colley, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Taylor Cemetery, southeast of Avila. The Rev. David Brane will officiate.
Visitations will be from 7 p.m. Tuesday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Avilla Methodist Church.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
