Paul H. Rose, 89, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, November 26, 2004, at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, following a long illness. Paul was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, September 13, 1915, the son of Charles and Ella (Trip) Rose. He was a 1933 graduate of LaPorte (Indiana) High School, and had been a Battle Creek resident most of his lifetime. Paul served with the U. S. Army during WW II in the Republic of Panama, receiving several service awards. He was a member of the American Legion Post 298, Past Commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7, and is a Civil Service Retiree. He was also a member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Paul enjoyed playing piano, hunting, camping, classical music and garage sales.
Surviving are his wife, Maria (Tina) Rose, two daughters, Tanya (Paul) Giguere of Venis, Canada, Xenia Rose (Herbert) Schafer of Battle Creek; three sons, Paul H. (Sylvia) Rose Jr. of Battle Creek, LeVern T. Rose of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Charles E. (Michelle Frank) Rose of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and other relatives living in LaPorte, Indiana. At the request of the family, friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The rosary will be recited in Spanish 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philip Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
