Emil served over 20 years in the Army, he is a World War II vet. Emil is the sibling of Henry Ernest Smejkal and Winnifred Rose Smejkal, all whom are the children of Emil Frank Smejkal Sr. and Aurora Anna Rivers. Emil's ashes are located in a plot next to his infant son Craig Jay Smejkal, who predeceased him.
