Almeta Batson Ellenburg, 89, of Brevard went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 25, 2018.
A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lyons Batson and Etta Selena Garren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Delbert Ellenburg; brothers, Hubert, Homer, U.G., Woodard, and Carroll Batson, and sister, Nora Humphries.
She was a lifelong member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, singing in a trio with her husband and daughter, Mildred, and singing in a ladies trio at church.
She was a 1947 graduate of Brevard High School.
A hard worker, she was a devoted employee of Cardinal Cleaners for 28 years. She also was employed by Village Cleaners and was manager at Cassell's United 5 and 10 for 12 years.
She adored her family.
Survivors include 3 daugher; a sister of Ypsilanti, Mich .; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and her special friends, the "Golden Girls" .
Memorial donations may be made to the Carr's Hill Baptist Church building fund, 2719 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at Carr's Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Shane Hardesty officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
