Catherine Lee Brashier Freeman Pannell passed away peacefully into the arms of JESUS on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Methodist Alliance Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN. Catherine was born in Lucy, TN (near Millington) on November 3, 1940, to the late Walter Lee Brashier and Willie Mae Goldsby Brashier. She was the sixth of nine children, five of which preceded her in death. Catherine graduated from Millington Central High School in 1960. She held many diverse job positions over the years such as dental assisting, working as a page for Union Planters in downtown Memphis, and driving a school bus for Tipton Rosemark Academy. She and her sisters ran an attendant's registry in Millington for a period of time, and along with her husband she called "Jimmy," were self-employed for many years. The position she most enjoyed though was full-time, 24/7, no pay and no days off, but she did it with excellence. It was the one of wife and mother. Later she became a grandmother to five and great-grandmother to nine, lovingly referred to as "Mammie." Catherine's interests were diverse as well. As a young woman she water skied the Mississippi River, could shoot straight, and drive tractors. Later she became a Dale Earnhardt fan, watched many St. Louis Cardinals games on tv and then in-person, and fed the hummingbirds with the five to ten feeders she kept hanging in the yard. She even nursed one back to health one time. She loved warm weather, and good coffee, especially if there was a camping trip involved. Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald "Jim" Pannell, and children David Freeman (Gwen) and Janet Pannell James (Sammy). Five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kenyon (Becca), Samuel James (Lindsey), LeeAnn Montoya (Wili), Sylvia Watkins (Andrew), and Hannah Tucker (Ben). Grandchildren, Nathan Kenyon, Annie Kenyon, Jada James, Lincoln James, Zaylee Adams, Ava Montoya, Analise Montoya, Katherine "Kate" Watkins and Samuel "Sam" Tucker. Siblings, Ed Brashier (Carol) and Clara Clark (Ennis). Many nieces, grand-nieces, nephews and grand-nephews and cousins as well. Never would we fail to mention her fur baby, "Drifter," who always sat at her feet. Special thanks to all of the staff at Methodist Alliance Hospice and the Residence for their compassionate care. They are beyond exceptional. May God bless you all as you minister. Funeral arrangements have been made through Northridge/Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington, TN. Visitation will be Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 5 to 7pm and service on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2pm. Following the services, Faith Baptist Church at 900 Simmons Road Drummonds, TN 38023, where Catherine was a member, will host a lunch for family and friends that wish to attend.
