Charlie Peake, 77, of Delhi and Hot Springs, AR, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following heart failure.

Family will greet friends at a "Celebration of Life? gathering from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Delhi American Legion. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.

Charlie was born August 23, 1928 in Mederville, the son of Clarence M. and LaVerne I. (Kahrs) Peake. He graduated from Postville High School in 1946. On March 18, 1950 Charlie was united in marriage to Lorraine M. Hansmeier in Elkader. The couple farmed near Postville. In 1955, Charlie went to work maintenance for the city of Manchester. He then operated a filling station/repair shop in Delhi. Charlie did contract carpentry until retirement.

Charlie enjoyed playing with his children and grandchildren. He had a special talent for making people smile.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Lorraine Peake of Center Point; children, Ruth (Larry) Beisker of Cedar Rapids, Rosanne (Charlie) Downs of Delhi, Richard (Debra) Peake of Graham, NC and Robert Peake of Hot Springs, AR; four grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth "Hap? (Joanne) Peake of Waukon.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & LaVerne Peake.
