US Congressman. He was a political science teacher at Temple University at the outbreak of World War II, when he enlisted and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard. After the war, he resumed teaching and served as a member of Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1954 to 1966. In 1967, he was elected as a Republican to the Ninetieth Congress and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1977.
