Benny was my late father's best friend whom Dad first met in 1954 while employed in the construction industry in Davis, California. (My parents had gone to California from Ohio that year and lived with my maternal grandparents in Davis during their entire stay. They returned to their native east Tennessee in 1955.)

In 1962, my parents left Tennessee again and returned to Davis, California. However, when we moved to 1806 Donner Court in Woodland in 1967, Benny, Sue, and their two sons, Mike and Gary, lived up the street from our cul-de-sac at 1733 Coloma Way.

Benny and Dad remained lifelong friends.
