Clemon Cleo May, son of the late Elzy "Dan" May and Gertha May Toone, was born August 8, 1927. He departed this life July 11, 2021 at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 3 days. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 as a welder and truck driver based out of Wiesbaden, Germany but was humble when he spoke about his time in the Army. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Bell Blankenship March 5, 1948 and together they raised two sons. Clemon was a hardworking, genuine man. He was the kind of man that could be depended on to keep his word. He was a loving husband to Bonnie. Clemon was a doting grandfather and great grandfather, he took great joy in spending time with them and bringing them special treats. He was what some might describe as a "horse trader", he loved to buy cars. He would end up persuading the salesman to meet his price. He had a softer side that loved roses and a Sunday meal of beans, fried potatoes, cornbread and French Silk Pie. In his grandson's words "He was a great man". During his working years, Clemon had several occupations and businesses. He delivered milk for a while. In 1966 he purchased a gas station in Independence, Missouri. He went on to own two drive-in restaurants and then owned and operated the Englewood Café. In the early 80's he sold the restaurants and purchased Hillbilly Bowl, bowling alley, restaurant and apartments. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri. At one time during his life, he had a pilot license and a plane and spent a great deal of time traveling. No matter how much he loved traveling, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and his grand dog Duke the most.

Clemon is survived by two sons: Larry May and Tim May and wife Wilma all of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren: Timberly Sozio and husband Ernie and Nathaniel May all of Springfield, Missouri; six great grandchildren: Dawson Sozio, Daeton Sozio, Parker Sozio, Emmy Sozio, Ella Sozio and Pheobie Sozio and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
