Born in Batavia, NY on July 15, 1939, Leon was the son of the late Clarence and F. Irene (Lathrop) Acker. He was a 1958 graduate of Jasper Central School.
On July 24, 1960 Leon married Roberta J. Erway and together they spent the next 40 years dairy farming in the Jasper/Troupsburg area. Leon retired from farming in March 2000.
Leon enjoyed fishing and big-game hunting. After retirement, he travelled to Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota and Quebec and Newfoundland, Canada to hunt elk, moose and caribou.
In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by his brother, Harley Acker; his sisters, Gertrude Vaughn and Marjorie Welch; special niece, Sherri Dietrich and special nephew, Richard Erway.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Roberta: his sister Audra (William) Erway; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
