A printed bio of his grandson. W. E. O'Bleniss states that Hamilton died on Thanksgiving Day. With that knowledge, I believe the stone is referencing Nov 24 for date of death. The WPA surveys of the 1930's gives the following, but I do not know where they got this death date:
