MILLER, Bonnie
October 5, 1941 - September 24, 2017

Bonnie Louise (Tatum) Miller, age 75, died September 24, 2017, in Santa Rosa, California. Bonnie was born October 5, 1941, at Moodys, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, to Roy Sheen Tatum and Maudie Lee (Muncy) Tatum. The youngest of five siblings (the only daughter), she was a resident of Santa Rosa since 1960.

Bonnie worked for many years as a waitress, first at the El Rancho in 1960 back when Santa Rosa Avenue was the Old Redwood Highway (101 Hwy). She was working at the Flamingo in 1962, when she met and married Jim Miller. They were married July 20, 1962, at the Methodist Church on Sonoma Avenue, by Rev. Howard Dalton. Jim, a native of Santa Rosa, was a sailor at that time, stationed at Coronado Amphibian Base in Coronado, California (across the bay from San Diego). She relocated to San Diego where she worked at Denny's near the Marine Depot. Upon her return to Santa Rosa, Bonnie worked at Los Robles Lodge and Denny's - Coddingtown.

She became a licensed Realtor in March of 1986, a profession she enjoyed until the time of her death. She had a loyal following, many of her clients were acquaintances made while working as a waitress.

She loved animals especially cats. She strongly believed in the Spay, Neuter & Release (feral cats) philosophy and solely cared for a colony on Santa Rosa Creek for years. Strays were blessed to cross her path. A favorite hobby was genealogy research, which she referred to as "searching for dead people."

Survivors include her son, James Allan Miller Jr. (Linda) of Prescott Valley, Arizona; four grandchildren, Jeremy Jay Taylor (Corrine) of Chicago, Illinois; Michael James Miller of Prescott Valley, Aarizona; Nathan Allan Miller (Alyssa) serving with the U.S. Army, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Mikali Olivia Lee Miller; niece, Gail Sue (Tatum) Cummings of Santa Rosa; along with nephews: Sean Tatum (Melissa) of Woodland; Eddie Tatum; Roy (Erica) Tatum; and Nick (Heather) Tatum all of Vacaville. Her "best friend" of many years; Veeda Ray of Santa Rosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Willis Richard Tatum, he died January 1935 (age 13) near Moody's, Oklahoma; Eulis Lee "Slim" Tatum Sr. (died 1989) of Merrill, Oregon; Normal Leroy Tatum (died January 2009) at Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Charlie Phillips "Max" Tatum (died Aug 12, 2012) at Stilwell, Oklahoma; two nephews: Eulis Lee Tatum Jr. and Brockman Lee Tatum; and favorite sister-in-law Dianna Lou (Sutton) Tatum, wife of Leroy.

No service will be held at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farm Sanctuary, Orland, California; the Humane Society of Santa Rosa; or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
