Doris L. (Richardson) Simpson, 90, of St. Joseph, was born on March 5, 1917, to Bessie and Elmer Richardson in Blythedale, Mo. She passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at her home cared for by family and friends.
The "Queen Mother" of our family, Dorey was a loving daycare operator for many children for over 40 years before retiring in the mid-1980s. She was an avid painter.
Dorey was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents; and sisters, Oneta, Millie, Eva and Shyrlee.
She is survived by two daughters, Carla Simpson and Naomi Orozco, both of St. Joseph; five grandchildren and their spouses, Gina (Tim), Steven (Kim) and Marty (Brianne), all of St. Joseph; Jennifer (Jeffery) Kansas City, Mo.; and Jimmy (Kristy) Maryville, Mo.; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
