Thaddeus Lafayette "Fate" Baker was the son of George Washington Baker and Nancy (Floyd) Baker. He married Olive Spence on 20 Feb 1855 in Thomasville, Thomas, Georgia. They had three children as follows: George L. Baker 1856-1862; Isaac Wesley Baker 1859-1943; and Nancy Jane Baker 1861-1868. Thaddeus served in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. He was in Company I, 9th Infantry, of Florida. He possibly fought in the Battle of Olustee in Florida and was sent to a hospital in Lake City, Columbia, Florida with typhoid and a gangrened leg. He died somewhere between Lake City and Brooksville, Hernando, Florida and is buried in the Lake Lindsey Cemetery in Hernando County, Florida. It is unknown if he has a marked grave or not.
