Funeral services will be held at Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born in Wilkes County, July 31, 1912 to Thomas Arthur (Johnny) and Ida Edwards Adams. He was educated in the Wilkes County School System. He was a former member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Upon moving to New York, he became a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY. He was chairman of the deacon board and a member of the choir. In 2006, he was honored at Salem for his forty years of distinguished service. Prior to retiring, Mr. Adams was a member of the Bakers and Confectioners Union and as was employed as a pastry baker in Brooklyn, NY.
Mr. Adams is survived by a daughter, Gloria A. Lewis of Fayetteville, GA; a grandson, Derrick (Charlotte) Lewis of Newnan, GA; a granddaughter, Rhonda L. (Stewart) Williams of Oviedo, FL; seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Camryn, Hunter, Ashley, Austin, and Dana; a sister, Alice A (Fred) Hackett, a brother in laww, Paul (Teddy) and wife Barbara Hunt; and a sister in law, Margaret P. Adams of Roaring River.
