Tillie Hixenbaugh, age 93, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Sunset Manor in Irene, South Dakota.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Jeff Mantz officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton.

Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Lonwood Green, John Green, Aaron Green, Robert Brattmiller and Paul Goettsch.

Tillie was born August 29, 1916 to Utica, South Dakota to Leonard and Elizabeth (Schenkel) Klasi. She graduated from Lesterville High School in 1935. She then moved to Miami, Florida where she met and married Larry Green. They lived in Seattle and Chicago and then moved to Cicero, Illinois in 1946. Over the years, Tillie worked as a clerk at Marshal Fields and other department stores as well as a Naval Ordinance plant. In the late 1950s, Tillie moved to Southern California and worked in a pottery store. She married Harold Hixenbaugh, who was a minister, and they traveled around the country spreading the Christian message for many years. After Harold died, Tillie moved back to Yankton where she lived for 17 years before become a resident of Sunset Manor in Irene. Tillie enjoyed listening to gospel music and her Christian faith gave her the most happiness in her life.

Tillie is survived by her son, Lonwood Green of Yankton; 3 grandchildren: John (Kim) Green of Virginia, Aaron (Lisa) Green of Shenandoah, IA and Susan (Bryan) Crandall who are stationed at a military base in Germany. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.

Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Hixenbaugh; six brothers: Joseph, Albert, Richard, Leo, Edward and Clarence Klasi; and three sisters: Elisa Klasi, Rose Brattmiller and Olinda Rothery.
