Marvin G Mercer, age 93, of Shell Knob, MO, passed away TU, 15 Jun 2021 at Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora, MO.
He was born 8 Jul 1927 in Covington, OK the son of Glenn & Bertha (Ward) Mercer. On 12 Aug 1974 in Wichita, KS he was united in marriage to Ruby Ott, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Marsha Mercer of Tulsa, OK & 2 brothers, Howard Mercer & his wife Jean, and Wayne Mercer & his wife Joyce all of Wichita, KS. (Son Paul was mistakenly left out of obit)
Preceding him in death were his parents and 1 son, Tommy Mercer.
Marvin received his education in KS and graduated from Plainview HS in Wichita. On 19 Sep 1946 he joined the US Army serving in both WWII and the Korean War. Most of his life was spent as an expediter for the US Postal Service from which he retired. In 1993 he and his wife moved from Wichita, KS to Shell Knob to make their home. He was a member of First Christian Church in Shell Knob and VFW Post 2203. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening, working in the yard & being on the lake.
Funeral services & burial were on 25 Jun 2021.
