Fremont ("Monte") Oliver passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021. Born on May 21, 1938, to Bella and Fremont Oliver, Monte was preceded in death by Fremont, Bella, Frank (stepfather), Ruth and Rosemary (sisters). He was a 1955 graduate of Franklin Pierce High School and captain of the football team, earning him a scholarship to Pacific Lutheran University. As a red shirt freshman, he never actually played a single down before enlisting in the Air Force on June 29, 1956, where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic. Monte worked for Boeing as an airframe and power plant mechanic, then USPS where he retired as a mail carrier. Monte was married to his first wife Frances from 1962 to 1991. He married his second wife Sandra in 1992; Sandra passed away on Jun 11, 2021. Monte is survived by his children Nancy, Rick, Glen, and Susie (Jamie), stepchildren Lori (Mike) and Rob (Angie), 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Monte had a zest for life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many years as a Scout Master. He loved fishing, dancing, singing, and camping. He had many stories to share about flying airplanes and scuba diving in the Puget Sound. A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 at New Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Rd W, University Place, WA.
